Trusted Telecom Vendors in India: Get Trusted Telecom Approval

Trusted Products are products whose critical components as well as products are sourced from Trusted Sources. The Authority will provide the TSPs access to log into the Trusted Telecom Portal. Also, they will indicate the telecom products and the vendor from whom the Telecom Authority intends to procure their equipment. The TSPs and their vendors populate the details of the following into the Trusted Telecom Approval

The Authority will also provide access to the Portal. The Authority also assesses the vendors and the sources of the components to determine Trusted Sources and Trusted products, which it then intimates to the concerned vendor and the applicant TSPs to make their procurements.

Telecom Vendor as a Trusted Source

The National Cyber Security Coordinator (NCSC) is the Designated Authority (DA)for the determination of the inclusion of a vendor as a Trusted Source, of a Telecom product as a Trusted Product, as well as the methodology for the said inclusion. In addition, the Designated Authority makes its determination based on the approval of a committee called the National Security Committee on Telecom (NSCT), headed by the Deputy NSA. Furthermore, the committee comprises members from relevant departments or ministries and has two from industry and an independent expert.

Adding a Telecom Vendor to the Trusted Portal

There are two ways in which a TTV can be added to the trusted list of products and vendors on the Trusted Portal:

TSP Request:

If the entered details by the Telephone Service Providers for a new vendor don’t match with any of the existing trusted products, then the TSP can request the Trusted Portal to add the vendor and/or the product to the list. The Portal will then approve the TSP’s request after a thorough assessment of the vendor and the source.

Vendor’s Request:

The vendor himself can also apply for an addition to the Telecom Trusted Portal. A hardware device vendor in the telecommunication industry can apply for the addition to the trusted vendors’ list. Likewise, the examiner will give you access to the Portal. Then you can log in and file the application for the trusted list addition.

To stay in business as a TSP, i.e., Telecom Service Provider, you must purchase the hardware devices only from a Trusted Vendor. One can understand that a trusted source is a source that a government trusts. Therefore, the TSP must decide only after assessing a Vendor and their products carefully.
